Alba's Multi-Purpose Jelly, part of the company's Un-Petroleum line, is a healthier alternative to popular petroleum products like Vaseline.
Made from natural hypo-allergenic ingredients like coconut oil, beeswax and Vitamin E, Alba's un-petroleum jelly is ideal for treating dry, chapped skin and diaper rash. A 3.5 ounce tube of the jelly starts at about $3.50 on sites that sell discount health products.
We purchased Alba's Multi-Purpose Jelly to have on hand at the hospital after little one's birth, just in case the staff needed to get a rectal temperature. We haven't used it for diaper rash yet, but I may apply it to my little guy's skin next time his eczema acts up-it's supposedly an excellent moisturizer. Although there is mixed opinion regarding whether or not petroleum jelly is carcinogenic, I'd rather not take the chance with my little one. Besides, carcinogenic or not, petrolatum is not eco-friendly.
